CHANDIGARH: With an aim to motivate girls to join the police services, the Panjab University is going to introduce police administration as one of the optional subjects at the undergraduate level from the coming academic session. To start with, the subject will be introduced in two of the girls' colleges in the city and would later be introduced in all others affiliated to PU.
After introducing a post-graduate degree course in police administration, PU has now decided to take it to the colleges, mainly girls' colleges to encourage girls to join the police force.
Anil Monga, coordinator of the department of police administration, PU, said the syllabus for the course has been finalized and students in both the colleges can opt for it in the coming session.
The students will strive for achieving excellence in the field of police administration through research, training and consultancy, to meet emerging security challenges faced by society to usher in a new culture of excellence in police organizations, Monga said.
Officials said that PU soon plans to introduce the course in all its 188 affiliated colleges.
Monga said that introducing police administration as a subject in the colleges will also enable the UPSC aspirants desirous of joining the police services to create a base for their future, while providing them knowledge about the police services.
A few years ago, PU had introduced post-graduation course in police administration to expose students to the recent changes in global, national and local environments and their implications for police administration.
